Jake:

wow! these are some compelling images from Kenya. My name is Erik Tryggestad and I work for The Christian Chronicle, a newspaper for Churches of Christ. We're based in Oklahoma City. I've been writing about the impact that the recent violence has had on churches in Kenya. Any chance we could use one or two of your photos on our Web site to go along with our ongoing coverage? We'd make sure to give you credit and could point people to your blog as well. Please feel free to contact me at erik@christianchronicle.org. Thanks! -- ET

Jake, we're certainly glad you made it out safely. Western Kenya will always have a place in my heart because of my visits there a number of years ago. It's so sad to see the carnage that's taking place there now. You're right in that there will be no lasting peace until the Kenyan people can see past their tribal origins.

The images compel me to stop, to look and read. Then to understand. The full impact of the event, though thousands of miles away, comes through with a vengeance. Those issues that we brush by through the media in our insulated lives are brought to real meaning in your photos. This is terrific work, but please take my advice; Live to be an old man and die in your sleep.

Jake....Your courage is awesome. Praise God for your passion to bring God's Kingdom, and so-hopefully-peace, to every place you visit. Do you have a group of people who pray for you when you travel? No doubt, the Lord has followed you and protected you. If you send word of travel, Carmen (my fiance) and I will be sure to pray. Thank you brother. With love in Christ.....

Thank you for your story and the courage to tell us. My wife and i are trying to help out a family there and she has asked if we can take some of her children. I can't even imagine the pain that they are going through, but without people like yourself the real history would never be told. I do believe that this is only the beginning and those in power have planned this out and we need to realize that this message needs to be told to help those in need. Only when more people get together and get mad enough at the things that they have done to us will things in this world change for the better. Please send this story to as many people as you can and get the word out and start asking questions and discussing the real issues about why these things happen. Don't look at the small picture take all the things you know and put it together. For the sake of yourself and your children please "open your eyes" and wake up from your trance.

bless you all
