Jake,
It was a great honor having you here in Lima and I will never forget your visit to my country. You explain so well the harsh conditions that overtake a lot of the Pueblo Jovenes here in Lima. I myself was not aware of the conditions that people of these Pueblo Jovenes have to deal with.
The description to your writing is very informative and so true in how you explain each event to each photo. I couldn´t have wrote it better myself. Bravo my friend.
I want to thank you for your visit to Peru and also to Children, Incorporated for making a difference in the lives of the people who so much need it.
God Bless You.
My Best Regards,
Christian

I am 19 years old and I am from Lima (Surco), Peru.
Its sad to see poverty on a beautiful country. The contrast of the wealthy and poor in Lima is incredible. They are so close together, phisically, but yet so apart economically and culturally.
Peru is starting to "pick up" and the economical situation is improving. Believe it or not, we are better off today that we were 5 years ago. I hope one day, ALL peruvians could enjoy a great life and be proud, like I am, to be peruvian.

very impressing pictures, thanks a lot!! As far as I see there are only a few pictures of the peruvian pueblos jovenes in the web. The peruvians are not proud of it, and the tourists from western countries are climbing the inca trail and not kilometre 14 away from central lima. I visited the city of comas for two times between 1993 and 2001 - if you come from western europe this is another world, and in parts to see the pueblos jovenes will change your way you will look on your surrounding.
